'Godzilla' star O'Shea Jackson Jr. opened up about the difficulties of having a famous actor as a father.

Making it in Hollywood is not easy by any stretch of the imagination, and despite what people might think, having a star as a dad makes it even harder.

O'Shea Jackson Jr opened up about the challenges that come with being the legendary Ice Cube's son and being his own man.

“The ‘junior’ is a gift and a curse…It’s a lot of pressure. It’s a lot of pressure put on a son to bear his father’s name, but at the end of the day, pressure makes diamonds so what are you scared of?” O'Shea Jackson Jr.

GROWING UP AS "JUNIOR" TO ICE CUBE

It doesn't make things any easier for Jackson, 28, that his own talents lie in the same fields as his father's - acting and rapping - but he has distinguished himself in both.

His first role was as in the film "Straight Outta Compton" in which he portrayed his own father, Ice Cube, to critical acclaim.

Jackson who has an unconditional fan in his famous father, has admitted that he feels the pressure of being in his shadow.

A GREAT TALENT CONFIRMED

In 2017, Jackson won the part of Dan Pinto, the love interest of Aubrey Plaza's character Ingrid Thorburn in the film "Ingrid Goes West," and triumphed in the role, with critics commenting that his magnetic performance stole every scene he was in.

MAKING HIS MARK IN THE BUSINESS

In 2018, Jackson starred in the film "Den of Thieves", a tense action thriller with 50 Cent and Gerard Butler.

Jackson is on a roll and stars in two new movies released in May 2019 - "Long Shot," and "Godzilla: King of Monsters." In "Long Shot," Jackson got to share the limelight with stunning Oscar-winner Charlize Theron and held his own.

O'SHEA JACKSON'S HOLLYWOOD AMBITIONS

Jackson who has an unconditional fan in his famous father, has admitted that he feels the pressure of being in his shadow.

“First of all, I take joy in carrying my father’s name. I love the fact that he will live on through me. It is an honor to be a junior always, but you will always be reminded. You’re always asked if you’re walking in your father’s footsteps or you’re trying to be better than your father,” he said.

Jackson has more than proved that he's earned his own way by the quality of his work and he revealed that he wants to become a screenwriter, and maybe move behind the camera at a later stage in his career.

O'SHEA JACKSON AND GODZILLA

In the new monster movie slated to be this summer's hit, O'Shea Jackson plays Chief Warrant Officer Barnes, the head of the military team dealing with the attack of the titanic creatures.

Winning a role in "Godzilla: King of the Monsters" was a dream come true for the actor, who is a fan of the Japanese monster.

Jackson wowed the fans at the red-carpet premiere by wearing a huge gold and diamond Godzilla pendant to complement his stylish suit.
