For his groundbreaking breakthrough in magnetic resonance scanning technology, Damadian received the Lemelson-Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Program’s Lifetime Achievement Award in 2001.

The first MR (Magnetic Resonance) Scanning Machine, one of the most useful diagnostic instruments of our day, was created by Damadian as a result of his ardent interest and love of science, according to the Lemelson-MIT award notification.
