Franco Harris was an NFL Hall of Famer who had an illustrious career with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Harris passed away at the age of 72 and the Steelers decided to pay respect to their fallen legend in spectacular fashion.

The long-awaited reception came after three days of Harris passing away during the half-time of the Steelers-Raiders game. Steelers President Art Rooney was present and was accompanied by Harris’ wife Dana Dokmanovich, and their son, Dok.

“It wasn’t supposed to be like this,” Rooney said during the presser. “The big man was supposed to be with us tonight. … Franco brought us joy for 50 years. So in recognition of his many contributions both on and off the field, it’s my honor to declare No. 32 is officially retired.”

The Steelers officially retired the No. 32 jersey in tribute to Harris and the dynasty he created with the Steelers during his playing days. It was a heart-warming gesture and everyone paid their respects, including the NFL Twitter official account. However, they made a massive blunder in doing so.

The NFL posted a picture on their Twitter of people standing with a flag and captioned it “Franco’s Italian army.” The only concern with that was, the flag was of Mexico instead of Italy.

The Twitter account was quick to notice its mistake and immediately deleted the post. However, the damage was already done and a plethora of insults and roasts were coming their way.

Franco Harris’ tribute was an immaculate reception except for this mistake from NFL Twitter. The Steelers also won the game against the Raiders in a low-scoring competition. However, the playoffs seem like a distant reality for them right now.
